Information for Volunteers

WEBCAS are looking to meet volunteers to act as citizen advocates to join our team.

Our volunteer advocates are ordinary people who live in and around Berkshire. They come from all walks of life. There is no minimum amount of time involved in advocacy. Some volunteers see their partners once a week, others twice or once a month.

No formal qualifications are needed, just the following personal qualities:

  • the ability to listen
  • common sense
  • empathy
  • the ability to refrain from imposing solutions on your partner
  • reliability and trustworthiness
  • confidentiality

WEBCAS will provide you with the right training and introduce you to a suitable partner. As your relationship develops you will become increasingly aware of their needs and wishes. You will be able to help express your partner's views as necessary and enable them to live the kind of life they would like and value, with their rights respected. The WEBCAS staff team will be available to give support whenever it is needed.
